I feel it's important that lay people/ non-nerds be able to use software and hardware beyond the Apple/ Microsoft/ Big Tech monopolies. I don't believe they should be expected to learn nerdy stuff to do so.So I'm trying right now to install Linux on an old Surface laptop I picked up cheap, and I'm trying to do it in as simple and normie-friendly as possible. Can this be done? Thus far, I've had to burn the Zorin ISO to a thumb drive and turn off secure boot. I don't really see how someone can get around these, but at least it's minimal enough of a bar. Zorin is installing. Assuming all goes well, I'll try setting up and using software with only the GUI tools they provide and minimal searching for help. Stay tuned. #Linux #ZorinOS #FOSS
